Our DIY volunteer effort to clean up the Urban Reserve section of Waterfront Park continues this Sunday May 17th starting at 10 AM. Feel free to stop by for an hour or an afternoon. We'll meet between the dog park and the "old skate park". I'll have gloves and trash bags, but bring any safety or comfort gear you may desire.
Over the past four weekends, we've been able to get ~50 large contractor bags of trash out of the park and away from the lake. Volunteer turnout has been phenomenal, with dozens of community members stopping by just for a few hours to do something good together for our community. This weekend, we're teaming up with the BTV Clean-Up Crew to combine forces for a bigger impact.
People power is strong, but it's so much stronger when there are simply more people doing their part. It's both individually empowering and demonstrates the strength of Burlington's ethos and culture. We as individuals and a community can actually make a positive impact on the quality of our city.
We all want to see a better future for Burlington - this is an easy way to actually help make it happen. Plus, it's sooooo much more fulfilling than just complaining online.
