D.I.Y. Community. Service.
Growing the impact of volunteers
in Burlington, Vermont.
How we make an impact:
-
1-2 flagship volunteer projects within Burlington’s public lands, informed by community requests & city department priorities.
Corps Service Projects launch annually in May and end in November.
-
Support for emergent & existing community groups through free training opportunities so that any type of public service advocate has the tools, knowledge, and people-power needed to scale with the scope of their projects.
Organizational Development Trainings will be a series of three one-hour in-person trainings held once per month between January & March annually in one of Burlington’s public buildings.
-
Acting as the connector between people, organizations, and projects, the Corps will work to bring attention & support to the existing network of volunteer work already happening.
In doing so, this can grow the impact & bring together new partnerships for community-driven action. This will include the convening of a “steering committee” of public service organizations in the Burlington area.
In time, we hope to launch a Volunteer Connector Platform to match projects to people based on skills, interests, and level of experience as a volunteer.
