Bing bong, we're hosting another evening shift clean-up Thursday 6/4 from 5:00-7:30 PM at the Urban Reserve (meet north of the Community Sailing Center, look for our pop-top tent).
I swear I care about things other than just picking up trash in our parks…but this has been such an affirming and productive project that I just keep getting pulled back into it. Every session we basically fill up a whole dumpster with possessions long forgotten that surely don't need to be in our public spaces.
I've met so many great, kind, caring people who have stopped by our tent to either volunteer or just to say thank you for cleaning up.
Young & old, homeowners & renters & neighbors without a permanent home, people from all walks of life use our wonderful Greenway bike path. With that, we ALL have a vested interest in our city parks and supporting their maintenance. More broadly, we all have a vested interest in shaping our community into the place we want it to be today and in the future. This is a way to do that!
I hope you'll join us this Thursday for a small (but meaningful) way to make a difference and build grassroots people powered strength in our city.
